It may be the fact that he is an essay writer the thing that characterizes him the most. However, it is important to point out that those who have been his students have stressed his almost recreational teaching strengths. As a sociologist, Horacio González has done a lot of research and has published many works, among others: The ceasing philosopher: Grace and despair in Macedonio Fernández, Philosophy of Conspiracy, Marxists, Peronists and “carbonarios” and The surreptitious Nation: the monstrous and the cursed in the Argentinian Culture, co-published with Facundo Martínez and Eduardo Rinesi. Except for some interruptions, such as getting his Doctor’s degree at the University of San Pablo in 1992, González has been a teacher since 1968. He is currently a professor at the University of Buenos Aires, National University of Rosario and at Free College of Rosario. Moreover, he has been the director of the National Library of Buenos Aires since 2005.
